What's so crazy about that sentence? Is the truth crazy to you?
heylewApr 9, 2008
buried because i dont need to hear what the candidates pastors have to say..... especially mccaino also... words of wisdom by founding fathers.. constitution and government was created to be separate from church... but being religious is a least common denominator here, so of course our candidates need it

These comments are crazy, but they are religious in nature, so I'm inclined to think this is different from the Reverend Wright thing.

WasabiBomb, thank you for your words.Does religion lead men to do evil? Yes, but they were ignoring the message of love and kindness that are in the heart of their religion. Were the evils of the Crusades and Inquisition only committed because of religion? No, the evils were rooted as well in the lust for political power and wealth. As a nominal Christian I can only speak for Christianity. Christ said, "Love your enemies; do good to those who hate you." How many 'Christians' follow this command? Very, very few. It is far easier to hate, to steal, to kill, to discriminate, and cover all these under the cloak of God and religion. Far easier to rationalize your evil, to justify it, to assuage your guilt and conscience, to feel righteous, if they are committed in the name of God.Religion is easily misused and abused. But so is Science. So is Reason. You seem to think I am anti-Science. Far from it. I am fascinated by Science. I read popular science books and subscribe to science magazines. I watch the Science Channel (and the Military Channel, but I am no soldier, and own no gun). I have a Computer Science degree. The great Richard Feynman is one of my science heroes. But I know very well that Science does not hold a monopoly on the truth. Science is the human pursuit of the truth, using the scientific method. But science is not infallible, because humans are not. It is riven with jealousies, prejudices, rivalries, lust for glory, and also fraud. Science and mathematics have also discovered that there are limits to what are knowable. The Heisenberg uncertainty principle imposes a limit. So does the Planck constant. So does Godel's Incompleteness Theorem and the existence of uncountable logically undecidable problems. There is a real limit to the use of Reason and logic. But Science and Religion should not be considered incompatible. If Science is the pursuit of the Ultimate Truth, then Science will find God, because God is Truth (by Christian definition).Isaac Newton, widely considered the greatest scientist in history, was very religious. Francis Collins, leader of the Human Genome Project, an atheist during graduate school, now believes in God (<a class="user" href="http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article67">http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article67</a> ... John Polkinghorne, a highly regarded (even by Richard Dawkins) theoretical physicist, is an ordained Anglican priest who "believes strongly that there is One World, with science and religion both addressing aspects of the same reality." (Wikipedia)Gerald Schroeder, an MIT-educated nuclear physicist, sees God in science. He is the author of the books The Science of God: The Convergence of Scientific and Biblical Wisdom, and The Hidden Face of God: Science Reveals the Ultimate Truth.Frank Tipler, mathematical physicist and professor at Tulane University, says in his book The Physics of Immortality that he used to be an avowed atheist, but by the use of pure reason, logic, and scientific principles, has come to realize that God must exist. God is the Universe (or more precisely, the multiverse). God is Being/Existence itself. Now, Tipler considers himself to be Catholic (he believes in the Holy Trinity). He has written the book The Physics of Christianity where he says "From the perspective of the latest physical theories, Christianity is not a mere religion but an experimentally testable science."Tipler believes that all that is in the Multiverse is a computer simulation -- the Matrix writ large, and God is the Creator, Designer, and Implementor of this Matrix. IF this is true, this makes sense as to why God is omniscient and omnipotent and everywhere.I don't have a problem with God being the Universe or the Multiverse. In a very real sense, the universe is the Supreme Being, the Supreme Existence. It has no known beginning (what comes before the Big Bang? What caused it?) It's laws reign supreme (the laws of physics) and cannot be violated. It knows everything. It is everything. It is all of reality. It is the Truth.People think the Universe and its physical laws are just something that's Just There. Isn't that what God is? People think the Universe is not alive. Not conscious. And yet they think that Life can come from non-Life. If Life is superior to Non-Life, how could it spring from something that is inferior? Do people even know what Life is? Science does not even have a real definition of Life. So how can people think with certainty that the Universe is not even alive and conscious of itself? Some really, really good physicists think the universe is a quantum computer simulating itself, like John Wheeler, like David Deutsch (quantum computation pioneer), like Seth Lloyd. The Universe/Multiverse is Life, is Existence, is God, IMHO. So, there is no real conflict between Science and the belief in an all-powerful God, the Supreme Being, again IMHO, and in the opinion of some really accomplished scientists.Truth comes from many places. So does goodness. It can be found in science. It can also be found in religion.

This is exactly what we don't need: diggers giving subtly inaccurate titles to diggs which throw everyone off in a big way.

Buried as inaccurate...Hagee isn't his Pastor.

The really real point is that religion has waaay too much bearing on our politics and has been used to twist the conceptions of the weak minded. Thank *whatever higher power you believe in* for the ACLU!

Pot meet kettle. (McCain + Hillary) Apparently Hillary wants to bomb the s**t outa the middle east too. Only difference is, she worships Satan. Okay, maybe no difference.

You may not agree with Hagee and thats your thought but he is not a nut job because he is saying something that most or all Christians should believe in and that is the End Times, The Rapture my friends I know i cant get you all to believe in this but i will try those of us being Christian believe the Lord will return in a second coming to Rapture those who believe in Him and God and be saved. It is not my desire to see anyone be hurt or lose their soul so I would ask you to read the Bible and see that the Proheisys that are here already and are to come is true. I want to encourage of you to seek this or a church that teaches this and get the knowledge and do some homework on this. We are in the End Times but by Gods time only God knows when he will return no Man or Angel in Heaven knows no date setters its not right. I hope those of you who read this see that this is respect to all of you. I hope you all seek to find the truth that God provides my best to all of you
