thinkprogress.org — Moments ago, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) — who last year famously admitted to not understanding economics — called for an “economic surge”. McCain’s policy prescriptions for the major issues often boil down to simply tacking on the word “surge.” In the past, he has trumpeted the Iraq surge and recently embraced an Afghanistan surge.

The O-man is famous for his stubborn idiotic comment that he repeats often: the Iraq surge would not work, will not work, and did not work. But he wants to have an an Afghanistan surge.

You are kidding when you ask "Did Obama say that or are you making things up?" If you are serious, you don't pay much attention to the news."I am not persuaded that 20,000 additional troops in Iraq is going to solve the sectarian violence there," the Illinois senator said that night, a month before announcing his presidential bid. "In fact, I think it will do the reverse."Obama continued to argue throughout 2007 that the troop increase was a mistake. By the early part of this year, he was forced to acknowledge that it had improved security and reduced violence, but he continued to stick by his opposition to the surge. And in July 2008, Obama removed a reference to the surge as part of "The Problem" section on his Web site devoted to laying out his plan for Iraq.
