thinkprogress.org — On her radio show today, conservative talker Laura Ingraham asked Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) what he believed should be done to address the struggling U.S. economy. Ingraham listed several economic indicators that have declined in recent years to make her point. McCain dismissed the premise of Ingraham’s question.

OK what is you definition of at recession? An economical definition is six months or more with little or no growth to the national GDP. Stagflation, yes we are in the middle of it, but not a recession yet. We do need to fix our debt and raise consumer confidence. Maybe if we stop welfare (make it workfare) and supporting illegal immigrants (ship them back and Make Mexico pay their debt to us), we could get out of debt. No more loans to other countries and make them pay! If Obomba is elected in November, expect to go into a full blown recession even without the man taking office. The markets know he will raise taxes and he is anti business. All the LIBS will blame Bush when actually it congress that controls budgets.

There are still a lot of bank write-offs coming. There are a boatload of Alt-A and Option ARM mortgages set to reset between 2009 and 2012.

redefining things has become a hallmark of the republican party. torture is not torture if government lawyers say so. unemployment is low because many more people are initially denied and the length of time you are considered unemployed has shrunk from 1 year to 6 months. inflation is no longer defined the same way. there are now several different types of inflation for the government to choose from, depending upon the given agenda. manufacturing has been redefined to include fast food jobs. after all, a burger or a taco certainly requires assembly, right? has anyone else noticed this disturbing trend of "redefining america" by our friendly republican party?

Government interference causes economic problems. The free market will provide a robust economy because people know what is best for themselves.

The economy looked good looking out from inside Enron, too. If Ken Lay were still alive, he's surely be a McCain lobbyist and campaign advisor.McCain has loads of unpaid "lobbyists" running his campaign who have spent years looting the U.S. Treasury. His main foreign policy adviser has gotten rich off the country of Georgia, and his company is surely getting big payoffs in exchange for influence.
