thinkprogress.org — Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) demonstrated again today that he was telling the truth about not knowing much about the economy. For a man concerned about protecting the average American from Wall Street greed, he seemed not to know who plays what role.

Actually, I would have to say that Joe Biden is Hussein's biggest gaffe to date.

"I'm all for smaller government, but there still has to be someone to hold corporations accountable for their actions."That's what shareholders and Boards of Directors are supposed to do - the gov't should NOT be in the business of regulating things. Record profits in the oil industry might have something to do with the fact that big oil spent a s**tload on exploration and refining and are making more money on that side of the house than they do distributing and selling gasoline to Joe Average on Main Street. If you want to go live in a socialist country - move to europe or something, don't elect Obama because some of us here are hoping to make it big the old fashion way - and that's not happening with a left leaning socialist who wants to tax the "rich" and plans to spend ridiculous amounts of taxpayer money on social programs

I've read through your comment history, and there's a common theme:You really need to do something about venting on digg.

@dickybrownDon't be a sponge for the Republican brainwashing machine. What makes you possibly think that if Obama gets elected you won't be able to get rich? That is ridiculous. Your taxes may be a little bit higher, but you'll have plenty more money to make up for it, after all Obama will only raise taxes on those making more than $20,000 a month. As it is now, you are not rich, and Obama's plan is to cut your taxes MORE than McCain would. Don't you think you need that money more now, and don't you think that you can afford to pay those taxes when you are rich? What social programs does Obama want to spend "ridiculous amounts of taxpayer money" on? Health care? Would you rather spend money on a War? There are many countries with HC as good as us. And guess what? They all pay half as much as we do (or less, % of GDP) and every single person in their country has no-questions-asked free health care.So let's see:America - Insurance companies profit by denying claims and reducing coverage; sounds like a contradiction to me. We spend 15% of our GDP on health care that is bested by many other countries. One out of six people without HC. Most of the rest have to worry about co-pays and if their problem is even covered and up until what dollar amount.Other countries with universal care - No health insurance companies; that money pays for the universal care. They spend a maximum of 8% GDP on HC. Every single person is covered and never has to worry about a lack of money affecting their care. The government has a responsibility to protect it's citizens, right? That's why we have Police and an Army. But the reality is that a lack of quality, affordable health care probably kills more people than terrorists or murderers do. So why shouldn't that protection should extend to health care?

@Cuchanu I didn't see dickybrown outright advocating for the Republicans, but I see you projecting that on him with your flawed assumptions of what the GOP establishment is about. The real GOP establishment is corrupt. Honestly, I don't see either major party doing anything good. And by good I mean stopping deficit spending, adhering to the constitution, and rejecting corporate bailouts.@MatherWhen government gets involved in something, they tend to outlaw or destroy the incentive for individuals and companies to do these things themselves. So of course you don't see it happening. You can't make a justifiable argument on those grounds. You'd be better off arguing that a given company rejected third party oversight, but only if this was a voluntary operation. Where government gets involved, this is not the case. Power without accountability is dangerous, and the greatest source of this type of danger is found amongst bureaucrats and politicians, and then granted to owners of businesses through corporate status.
