thinkprogress.org — During a press availability today, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said that he’s been concerned by “a couple of steps that the Russian government took in the last several day,” including “reducing the energy supplies to Czechoslovakia.” But, as TPM’s Greg Sargent points out, Czechoslovakia hasn’t existed in 15 years.

The former perception only exists because of the latter reality.

well i just don't agree with the premise that the two gaffes are of the same nature. I disagree with that concept and I find it odd that it seems like every comment that mentions Obama talks about the 57 state thing. It's not relevant.

Yeah, Czech Republic is so amazingly different than Czechoslovakia So, should our president:1. know how many states are in the union2. know the form of government in place in Canada3. know that his parents could not have met after he was born4. know who liberated Poland in World War II5. know that "fallen hero's" are dead people - not people he can see in the audience6. know it is not a good idea to make up stories that he claims inspired him7. know that when he claims he is going to filibuster the FISA bill - it will be a huge surprise when he votes for it...or does Democrat Sock-Puppet DuggDowner apply a colossal double standard?

I also live in Prague and I guess I don't know any fellow Americans that are stupid enough to still call this place Czechoslovakia.

Slip of the tongue? He's supposed to be a foreign policy guru with the moxy to run things the way they ought to be run. The dude is REPEATEDLY making the same mistake, which means his staff is too afraid to correct him, probably because of his volatile temper and propensity to s**tcan people who get in his face. It's hilarious to see RW wackjobs whining about the numbers staring at them in the face when they encounter a truly democratic forum like Digg. As if they themselves aren't trying like hell to game the Digg paradigm every single day? Keep whining you pathetic chickenhawk miscreants. It's sweet, sweet music to my ears after 8 years of your authoritarian hero Bush dragging the country to hell to indulge his own adolescent revenge fantasies.
