thinkprogress.org — Last week, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) walked into a bipartisan wave of condemnation in Colorado when he told the Pueblo Chieftain that the 1922 Colorado River compact, which governs the allocation of the river?s water among seven states, ?needs to be renegotiated over time? Now, Mitt Romney is claiming that McCain didn?t mean what he said.

If the Compact were to be renegotiated, there'd of course, be winners and losers. I'm not particularly familiar with the specific shortfalls of the Compact, but I'm assuming an Arizona Senator might be acquainted with those issues. I don't see anything inherently wrong with that position even if it is true.

CNN long ago stopped giving anyone a hard time; I guess they are letting FOX be right, MSNBC be left so they can stand in the middle. MSNBC is biased but they aren't "full-of-s**t" biased like FOX "news".

Yawn...

If the drought in the southwest continues, there really won't be much of a river to renegotiate. Nevada's, California's and Arizona's populations have changed quite a bit since 1922. They are still in flux. And McCain stumbled how? Speaking the truth? Hmmmm.

The Colorado headwaters had a high-normal snowpack this past season. Some areas (Steamboat Springs, for one) had a record snowfall.
