I remember buying Wolfenstein 3D at a computer show in the local convention center back in the early 90s. There was a booth run by a largely overweight guy with a beard that had massive racks of 3.5" disks. He had all kinds of software available, from games to productivity software to disks full of clip art. They were all labeled with labels that looked like they were printed out on a dot matrix printer and all of his disks cost $3.00 each.I miss those days.

wow, seems like yesterday. Really, it does. I must be getting OLD!The spinoff Quake 1 (spec. online Capture The Flag) was the shiite and still amazes me. Good to see there are some ppl still playing it. Hell, theres even ppl still playing the original online multiplayer game Net Trek http://www.netrek.org/

May I ask why it's restricted to shareware when id released the licenses for everything from Wolfenstein 3d to Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory over a year ago? Not only can you download these free, but id also keeps an online library of the engine sources for most of the games so you can mod them. Only the most recent engines are under EULA restrictions. All of ids old stuff is now open source.

And in those days a sound card was one hell of an investment! You needed it for the joystick port though. ;)
