Yellow and Quax, there can't be a rebuttal to someones opinion, I know it's difficult for you to grasp that concept, but try. As for the insults, I responded in the same tone as quax's initial post, so stop with the crying, quax you were insulting and belittling towards the troops and got that in return, live with it. Nice use of the thesaurus though, loved your usage of troglodytes, although the context is all wrong. Your willful blindness as to the importance of the troops will one day come back and kick you in the butt, until then enjoy living in your idealistic bubble, I hope it never gets busted because reality can be a bitch.

Quax, again your attempt to appear educated and intelligent fails, I know the meaning of troglodyte but felt you used it out of context as it doesn't apply to me or others who disagree with you, let me give you another word, boorish. Your responses are boorish to the extreme and your generalizations are quite amusing, I actually didn't sign my life away when I joined the military I expanded it with all that I was able to experience and contrary to what you think you know it never involved killing anyone, on the contrary I assisted with their rehabilitation from illness and injury as I am a PT, with 2 other degrees in CIS and Psychology, so I guess your attempt to be dismissive failed, sorry. No one answers your asinine question because it's obvious to everyone except you and others of your ilk, but please feel to believe that the troops do nothing to protect you or your rights, see the beauty of it is that they protect all citizens of this country, whether they agree with their ideology or not. Sorry, but providing biased links aren't evidence of anything, hasn't college taught you anything? Statistics and history can be manipulated to say whatever you want it to. And what you see as aggression I may see as necessary. Your rhetoric alone is full of exaggeration, what with all the "mass murders, empirical expansions" etc... You seem to be one of those blame America first people, which is really sad as it's this country that's provided the means for you to continue your education in a environment that allows for your continued free speech. Unlike other countries you can continue to post your beliefs without the fear of going to jail or being censured (within reason) as you can't make death threats or the like without scrutiny. Grow up and see the entire world around you, there are people who don't like you just because you're not like them and they'd kill you without a second thought, but our military is a safe guard against those types of people. Your failure to see that is telling.

No, I never got a chance to be in the far east, I lived in Germany for 4 years as a teenager as a military brat and then was stationed in England during the 1st Gulf War. I did however have friends stationed there who were able to purchase all kinds of great things, at much lower prices and they told me great stories about being there. But having been stationed at AF bases in the states and in Europe we always have armed MP's at the gate. I'll tell you a little secret, the Army trains you guys with weaponry all the time, the majority of AF personnel only re-qual every 3 years or so, so would you want some guards with flashlights guarding a base full of people who don't normally handle guns? Probably not. I'll give it to you the Army guys are much tougher than the AF ones, but on the other hand the AF treats its personnel much nicer as far as facilities and accommodations.I look at AF and Army bases and the difference is remarkable, although it's tougher in San Antonio because the Army has really remodeled Ft. Sam with the influx of people coming in to the incredibly high tech rehab facility there. Yes, I'm excited about it because I'm a Physical Therapist and I love to see all the climbing walls and continuous wave machine where the guys can boogie board and work on balance, etc., not to mention the 360degree virtual reality equipment. But overall the barracks and BX are better on AF bases. Now I could be wrong as I'm no longer active duty, but that's the way it used to be. I'm hoping they got rid of all those old barracks I used to see at Ft. Jackson and Ft. Hood. Why do you think TX sucks?

I'll hold you to that screaming of "US R GREATZ" in a few months, even if the guy you don't like wins..... :) Take care and thanks for the discussion.

Like I said, his story is heartbreaking, but every story has two sides. It never fails to amaze me when people such as yourself unquestioningly accept claims that happen to fit their own worldview, but then denounce the people who they oppose for doing the same with their own facts. As for paying the Iraqis, I think it's damn smart...after all, people have constantly bitched and complained that by disbanding the Iraqi military and purging the Ba'athists we put a whole bunch of angry people on the street with grudges against us. If it costs us some money to keep them happy and get them to stop shooting at us and massacring the Shi'a (provoking the Shi'a to do the same), I think it's a great idea. And it's the main reason why we might be able to leave Iraq without leaving a complete disaster in our wake.

Matt had chromosome damage that he was told was the kind caused by radiation/chemicals - before he ever had any kind of treatment for his leukemia (or even knew that he had it).

In light of Memorial Day I just wanted to see my cousin for a moment. I went to the cemetery and it was beautiful, American Flags all throughout. I looked here to see what people thought and to see his pictures. I miss him very much. In reading the comments I wanted to just let people know that Matt was a good man. He Loved his wife and his sons (which he DID support!) very much and he loved his country as well. Please do not hate our country and use his story as a reason. The system was and is unjust our country is GREAT! He was a proud soldier, a loving and wonderful man and he is missed very much. People make a difference VOTE, SERVE, LEARN and APPRECIATE where you come from, he was proud to be an AMERICAN, so am I. I love you Matt and miss you very much!
