The Long Count calendar identifies a date by counting the number of days from August 11, 3114 BCE. a/ Mayans had dozens of calendars. everyone is free to learn about them. suggested keywords: MayanMajix, Ian Xel Lungold, Dr Carl J Calleman.b/ anyone who takes the time to do so, will quickly realise that the Mayan Tzolkin calendar did not predict "we'd all die in 2012" or that the world would end. However these are common misconceptions, propogated by those that insist on talking authoratively about things they have no knowledge. I encourage anyone interested in learning more, to do just that! I'm sure glad I did, it changed my life for the better. :)

The solar cyclic is, well, cyclic, with small variations. It's more regular than the Earth's weather and therefore easier to predict. To put it anotherway, if the "hurricane butterfly" flapped its wings on the Sun, it would have effect on the solar cycle but it would take much longer to be noticeable - probably several cycles. (Technically, the maximal lyapunov exponent is small but greater than zero.)

I think this will be one of the MOST incredible changes in our world. People are waking up to the reality that we are not just human beans but something much bigger than we once thought. Not only solar storms will hit earth but other events are set to happen at the same time changing everything around us. I don't believe this will be the end of the world itself but the impact of such events will definitely change our perspective of how we interact with our nature.

yes :) the "packaging" of Global Warming is a scam.. get on youtube and search Alex Jone Global Warming. You see, what have we been told is the cause of Global Warming? CO2. From biology class what do we know that plants breathe? CO2. The cause isn't just the increase in CO2 emissions but the chopping down of our forests and rain forests... you see all of the planets in our solar system have actually been heating up...

I think global warming is a political cause that is presented to us to distract us from the truth of reality (spirituality, etc...). I think the same thing about all politics. Right and Left are there to distract us from becoming enlightened. There is a greater truth about the universe that can be known and I am working hard to find it. This reality is inconsequential. If we study our consciousness we will understand the true nature of our spirit, which I think is way more powerful than we think, and transcend. That said, practicing loving kindness will only make this earth healthier (both spiritually and physically - i.e. It is not the practice of loving kindness to chuck your garbage in a river).

2012 to the Mayans was not "The End of Timmeeeeeessss"..OOooohhhh.It was the end of "Time" as we know it; as a linear way of record-keeping. The past and the future will not have the same meaning when we learn to tune in to the constant pulsating energies of the NOW. Constant awareness of synchronicities is what will tune your own brain into the possibilities of this event.
