It didn't seem like it was their fault. It seems to me that the driver obviously didn't wait for them to close the back of the truck and just drove off.

Often times sub-contracted drivers are not even ALLOWED into the back room of the store. In that case it is the store's responsibility to secure the load well enough to pull away from the dock.
