Steger said that investigators initially thought that the dorm shooting was a domestic incident and that the gunman had left campus.Why isn't anyone, not a single talking head or blog or the public, or ANYONE asking the question: WHY did police ASSUME he left campus? On what evidence? And why did they dismiss the dorm incident as "contained"? or as a "domestic incident" as if a domestic incident isn't the very thing that leads to mass murders: Hundreds of mass murders in this country begin with a "domestic incident." This is the greatest dereliction of duty I have ever heard of. I think the head of campus security and the Blacksburg chief of Police should all resign. It sickens me to no end. I'd also like to know at what point the VT president (Stegar) was informed and who made the call not to broadcast that a killer was at large. WHO MADE THAT CALL???!!!! Why hasn't anyone asked these questions?

this guy was an alien too, so yes we are focusing correctly when we look at immigrates however I do agree that our security focus should not be as narrow as it is.

Actually I'm European. I heard the fact that "Canadians have more guns, yet they don't kill each other" from Michael Moore's "Bowling for Columbine". I guess he's wrong and I should have checked before posting. Sorry.But the point was this: no law, police, guns / no guns, detectors etc. will stop a suicide killer. (Remember 9/11)When there are school shootings, that's the fault of society, not the lawmakers or lack of guns/too many guns.Maybe we should say more than "Hi" to each other. Nobody really knew the shooter - he was the victim of the society. This does not justify what he did, but before we look for somebody to blame, we should look in the mirror first.
