Interesting...although I'm not really sure how its going to work. How do they decide on who is what character?I don't think it would work too well having a 100 Wolverines running around. As for the keyboard...how about they use the f**king Live headset for chatting!!!!!
Finally someone wises up and decides to take advantage of the thriving Xbox live community. I've always thought (and surely Microsoft has as well) that Xbox live's micro-payment system just begs for an MMO-type game. Think about it: you're gettin' nailed, so you chug a "omg all my health back thx" potion, which sells in stacks of 10 for 100 Xbox points. Or, heck, this might even be a way to monetize expansions -- want that new boss lair for raiding? It'll cost you!And not to get all fanboy, but if they can somehow bring the vision camera into the game, that would make guild-based interaction all the more fun... provided you aren't in a guild full of people who like showing their asses to the cam.I'm especially looking forward to how the achievements system is going to tie into this...
@NJank:My guess is that they are only just recently starting development on the game. Meaning it will be about 2 years before the game comes out. Given that CoH has already been out for two years, it will be four years old at that point, and this new MMO will be seen as the natural successor to the City Of Heroes / City Of Villains games.
As much as it sounds like a good idea...my main concern is that it's nearly impossible to create comic-book style 'epic' events in a persistent online world. How would you pull off an 'Infinity Gauntlet' - scale story without your key players actually being online (regardless of whether you play as existing Marvel characters or as user-created heroes)? Also, I have a hard time seeing individual villain battles existing on some large scale out in the wild. (You wouldn't be able to take down Rhino without dozens of people trying to cut in on your action.)The challenge will be to create scale-able villain confrontations in a semi-controlled environment (like instances / raids in WoW), while keeping the interaction interesting enough for the dozens upon dozens of iterations that the player will need to engage in to power up. I can already think of a number of locations that lend themselves to this sort of gameplay (The Vault, Arcade's Murderworld, Mojoverse, etc.)I'll probably give this game a try if I have an XBox 360 by then (still on the fence), but I'm not sure this game can hold my interest for as long as WoW did (4-6 months).
"Plus, is there room for two superhero mmorpgs?"Actually it's three. SOE announced that there is a DC based super hero MMO in the works. And as much as I hate to say it (because I like DC more the Marvel) it sounds like the Marvel one will be better as the only thing SOE is good at is ruining MMO's

Sounds a bit too much like CoH/CoV to me... But it's good to see another MMO on Xbox Live.

It really doesn't take very long to get to level 50 if you try.
