It was bound to happen. My company wanted Opteron's and Dell could not deliver so we turned to Sun. That's a lot of revenue Dell missed out on.

This only pertains to servers. This is the way I see it. Dell's market share will continue to slide. They'll fight the intel vs amd to the bitter end and try to adopt AMD for laptops and desktops. Their Alienware line will offer Intels only. Intel won't care because they'll still be buying Intel cpu's. Oh, and there is that little arrangement with some guy named Jobs. Apples will gain market share, and intel will be at the heart of that. So big whoop, let shares slide a bit, buy 'em at a discount, because they'll just go back up as what I say takes place.

Just means it's time to buy Intel stock. Get it now while the price is good; once Conroe drops it's going to be a slaughterfest until late 2007.*grin*

Erm... .okay, fair point. I should have said to take it with a slight pinch of salt, as you should do with everything from The Register. It's pretty funny and insightful sometimes, but it doesn't seem that bothered about being scrupulously professional and unbiased. :)

Im pumped for the new Conroe, right now I love my AMD chip but if the Conroe blows it away I'll have to pick one uphooray for competition
