This goes back to the invention of the PC and the old question, Is it really stealing if the original owner still has media in question. Theft is defined by taking something that isn't yours, and leaving the owner with nothing. If the owner still has the original media, it isn't technically stealing. Copying isnt theft, Stealing is theft.
