If you want to see whether your view match up with a candidate's policies, go to http://glassbooth.org/ and rate the issues you think are important. Then tell it your opinions about those issues. It will match you up with a candidate. Basically, it's computer dating for politics.I was already a supporter of Obama, and I went there and took the quiz, and it says that... surprise... Obama is the one who most closely corresponds with my views. Also, Obama has explicitly come out in favor of net neutrality. (Name one other candidate who has. Hint: as far as I know, there aren't any.)
I appreciate Marc's comments on staying out of the fire of politics on his blog... I've thought the same and for the most part found myself mostly frustrated by the "P-Machine" and rarely enthused or engaged. Then, I received a copy of "The Audacity of Hope" -- now, haven't had much time to read it for I've been writing my own book... so I busted into the audio format. WOW! Amazing... I haven't been this excited about a leader since I listened to JFK's inaugural address last week. Clearly smart, authentic, clear... strong. It's all there, what Marc speaks to. And this country doesn't need a "doer" (although I am sure Obama can do) it needs, desperately, a leader...and a real leader. Don't delay... listen or read The Audacity of Hope and get your own experience. If only a fraction of his words are true, this guy is still ten stories above anyone we've seen willing to take this post in many, many years. In Strength, Shawn
>>By almost any measure, the Obama campaign has simply out-executed both the Clinton and McCain campaigns.Obama has out-executed Clinton to build a delegate lead. But he does not appear to have out-executed her by enough to win in regulation. And it's hard to judge that to be a particularly impressive accomplishment when you consider what chaos the Clinton campaign has been. As for McCain... it's hard to find any instances of McCain's campaign stumbling. In some ways McCain has been incredibly fortunate. But even the things in 07 that conservatives thought would hurt McCain (the immigration bill, for instance) now appear to enhance his chances in the general election. The main measures by which Obama has out-executed McCain+Clinton is in fundraising and excitement level. But neither of those have proven to be unbeatable so far (ask Romney about how useful his fundraising advantages were, or how Obama outspent Clinton 3-1 in some places but came up short). And the Obama excitement has translated into lots of caucaus wins, but not always election wins. Sure, overall Obama's campaign has come a long, long way. But for Marc A to say "by almost any measure" obviously overstates Obama's campaign results, and it also understates the degree to which McCain has, somehow, marched to his one party's nomination.
