lifehacker.com — The command line's making a comeback, but the terminal window, keyword launcher and search box aren't the only textual command interfaces- your cell phone has joined the party. More and more modern webapps let you interact with your data via SMS, updating and retrieving your information in the cloud on the go.

In england we have to pay 12p to send a message on some networks. That's something like $0.24... which sucks.

While many may criticize, I've used SMS in a variety of ways (the flat $14.99 for unlimited messages has helped) including texting with my family in a convenient way, checking in with clients (so much faster and easier than phone calls and they all prefer it), and yes flirting with my girlfriend (before she was and now that she is -- was a great way to have fun little conversations while getting to know each other in the beginning).

I got an old tmobile account with a $ 9.99 tmobile to tmobile feature which includes unlimited sms. Versus todays $ 6.99 tmob to tmob and $14.99 for unlimited sms

No kidding. Fuse's show where you can text your pick for the next music video (in very fine print) states that each text message costs $.50. Not only that, they recommend you send the text many times to "ensure your video gets played."That's marketing at its lamest.

Great post. I use SMS for everything cuz I'm not a huge fan of talking on the phone anymore. Just joined Mosio http://www.mosio.com - let's you text any question from your phone and real people answer (free). Also has some cool mobile apps. Most definitely not the best thing if you're paying per text tho, but i'm not.

Starting December 11, JetBlue passengers can send text messages, use instant messaging software or check and send emails using their Yahoo accounts. This is a first in US aviation history and other airlines may follow suit. The video only mention BlackBerry phones, but we’re pretty sure other phones with WiFi can do emails too.http://www.reviewsofcellphones.com/lg
