I've had to help pry many an unwary passenger out of the DC metro doors. They DO NOT reopen if you get yourself caught in them. I can only wish that I would have the courage to do something like the man in this story, however.
I saw him there today outside the turnstiles, being interviewed by the news. They had cameramen everywhere, with one guy set up right on the edge of the platform for some reason. All I could think about was how ironic it would be if he fell in.
Granted this guy acted on impulse and did something most people wouldn't do. One thought that did cross my mind though was that his young daughters almost watched their dad get ran over by a train (and probably thought he had been).Someone needed to do it, I just don't think he was the best one...
To me, that makes him more of a hero. He risked it all and more to save a complete stranger. Its a shame there is no other way to show our gratitude other then clicking "digg it"

You'd be funny if this story was even closely related to the plot of that show...

This man is a hero. I just experienced a similar situation but i was a few minutes late, sad deal and tramatic thing to see.http://www.wibw.com/news/headlines/4932351.html
