wired.com — Apple Computer and Nike's new iPod-sneaker combination for monitoring exercise could be just the first of several activity-aware applications for the iPod -- and maybe even a new gesture interface that uses movement to select songs or adjust the volume.

My iPod seems sensitive enough. It is always there for me - and it constantly reminds me "Do Not Disconnnect"... What more can you ask for from an electronic device?

I'll just play more Celine Dion and Sade with mine.. That'll make it more sensitive.

Yeah because when I am on a subway, I want to be waving my ipod all around to get to the song I want.

But what if you wanted to use it in space? The Zerg dissapprove.

Or, you could use the navigation to get to the song (or movie) you want, orient it in portrait mode to watch the movie, or turn it back to landscape to read a book.

More sensitive?Since the comments seem to be about crazy speculation, how about a mind controlled iPod shuffle? With a headband, the shuffle would be able to detect brain-waves. By using some simple neural networks, you'd be able to control the 5 functions of the front buttons: Volume up/down, Prev/Next and Play/Pause, just by thinking about the command. You'd have to train it/yourself in order for it to work best. To help training, the shuffle would embed 5 green/orange/red LEDs, one for each function. In training mode, you'd have to look at your shuffle, and try to make a led go from red, to orange and then a stable green. At first, the LEDs would appear to flicker at random, but eventually you'd be able to make only one led light green when you think about it. Once you're able to do that, press the corresponding function to confirm, so that the neural network can learn, and repeat the process for all 5 functions, until you are good enough. Maybe a beep sound with 5 different notes could help the learning process.Eventually, most people would be able to control all 5 functions independently just by thinking about them.I can already imagine the conspiracy theories on how about the new "mind shuffle" could control their users like mindless drones :)
