"there's a lot of stuff in my basement that came with the house that i'll never use. i don't even know what's in there, but since it might possibly be structural, i'll leave it there. i've still got the garage, attic and shed to put other stuff in. and with interest rates so low, i can always buy another house if i run out of room."this thread has caused me to lose so much respect for the digg community. for a technology site, you would think you wouldn't be a bunch of paranoid morons. sure, this may be old, and may not help all that much, unless you're tight on hard drive space, but it certainly doesn't hurt to delete something that will never be used. it is certainly NOT the worst advice ever.as for the double negative 'windows is running without no problem." - sure, it means windows is running with problems. but that's normal for windows. :p
"And two, a pet peeve of mine, double negatives in english. "without no problem." Yep. W00t for education."And 3, people who think the United States is the entire world and that everyone's first language is English ;-)
Easy way to make your windows folder smaller = Install Linux :-)As for more files makes your drive slower is probably the same person who said a full hard drive weighs more than an empty one - no wonder my laptop is so damn heavy its all those text documents LMAO
I've deleted most of this stuff on a regular basis before I read this article. Nonetheless I found it helpful. What's the harm in clearing caches? I do it so that I can have every last byte possible available. You people bitching about the grammar in the article need to look at the rest of the web, maybe you'll have an aneurysm. And before anyone makes a MCD's comment, I work in retail and make more than MCD's would pay and I still can't afford to spend any extra dough on a freaking new HD. You 1337 Haxors wanna send me an old 80 gig or something now that you all have a bazillion?

This seems too risky to do. I mean i'm ok with deleting windows cursors, but drivers and stuff? I dont know.

This does seem rather much for the expected return and possibly dangerous for un-experienced users. I wouldn't delete anything from my Windows folder.

The best way is to download some Linux discs, and completely get rid of Windows. :-b

I am gonna give it a shot, if it doesn't work, I have the restore disk. I don't see a risk here.

This is an excellent idea. I am going to restore my computer using Nortan ghost, and make a new slimmed down backup of my Windows. I can't wait! :D

hey, just reformat your hard disk and install DOS 2.1. That way you'll REALLY save a lot of disk space.
