Years ago (as a former working musician), we used to get hit up all the time to give away free promotional t-shirts. Some skanky looking guy tried to convince our drummer that it would be "good publicity!" Said drummer took one look at the guy and said "Who the hell looks at what YOU wear?"
bwahahah marty I know everything about it.I spent $100000 to go to design school and might as well be holding that sign.So don' talk about stuff , about stuff that you know nothing about.
geez. Reading that article on no-spec makes me kind of sad. I just graduated college and the company I ended up working for told me they were looking for a recent college grad, specifically, so the grad could bring in fresh new ideas and provide a different, edgy approach their marketing and design. Well they are paying me s**t so I can only assume that's the reason they wanted a "beginner." I mean I kind of figured that anyway but reading it here makes me slightly more angry! But it's not like I can quit or anything, as good design jobs are impossible to land in this area. So I guess I'll just stay enraged internally, those jerks >:((p.s. to all the people complaining about the "crappy animation" in that video: for the love of God, it was made to convey a point, not to wow you with bells and whistles)
Pssh, whatever dips**t... "Students DO need "experience". But they do NOT need to get it by giving their work away. In fact, this does not even offer them the experience they need. Anyone who will not/can not pay them is obviously the type of person or business they should be ashamed to have on their resume anyway." - NOSPECWay to make an ass out of yourself...

"So this is how you repay me? What, all I did is give birth to you".

changing words above static images really doesn't amount to animation, and the glaring errors in the spelling are annoying, annoying enough to ensure I'd not trust them with any web design. That said the point about people expecting websites to be made for free is fair enough. http://www.rolid.org http://www.se-ua.com
