This looks like a great resource for those wanting to start video production on the web but don't know where to go. Brightcove is another great solution but they seem geared more towards pro produced media.

I am a big supporter of Democracy TV -- my first version was 0.4 beta.. but I would call this more of a really good pamphlet than a "massive resource"

If you're using a camcorder made any time in the last five years and still using a TV tuner to capture, you're doing something wrong. Digital camcorders have Firewire, for digital capture from the camera to your computer.

In the last two weeks I've got hold of a camcorder and I'm looking to start a video podcast. I've used Kino a bit to do video editing before and have some experience with it and I think I may be able to help someone else who is trying to learn. However, my camera skills and my understanding of shot composition and lighting is limited at best, this site has helped me out a fair bit. They've given me some useful tips, I'd like to contribute back to their cause.I don't work for them, but if they want to give me some money, I wouldn't say no, hehehe.

I think the metaphor for TV is changing... does it have to be broadcast or live anymore? What about watching 'On Demand' or using 'TiVo'? I still consider those forms of TV, and although having a news aggregator full of videos is different still (better?!), it seems pretty comparable.

I agree with everyone else here, this is a great starting point for any newbie or novice! I myself have only just opened a video website as well, I provide everything to get someone started except the hardware which currently I am looking at providing for serious users or paid members to the site. If anyone else would like to check it out you can find it here: http://www.makewebsitevideos.comKind RegardsRichard Monssen
