joystiq.com — I spoke to Major Nelson at yesterday's Guitar Hero II event, and he candidly spoke about why the Guitar Hero downloads are so expensive. We also talked a little bit about the Spring Update, competing against the PS3, and what he thinks of Wii.

@ TimmyGUNZI don't think so too. I don't even have or see any problem about the licensing at all. I'm just saying that he could blame them, not that it's right to blame them. The only problem (as I see it) is explained in my post: the distribution method.

So, once again, why is this Douche Bag (whose real first name is Larry) called Major Nelson?

Uh, "spoke candidly?" More like "spoke in Marketroid language, without subtitles."

Whiners...The pricing would be fine if the songs were any good. You kids are expecting to pay 99 cents like it's the frickin iTunes Music Store I guess. How much above 99 cents is interactivity with a song you love worth? Personally I'd pay 5 dollars PER SONG for Zeppelin or More than a Feeling. Quitcher bitchin

To buy all of the songs from Guitar Hero 1 it would cost almost $100. The retail cost of Guitar Hero 1 just a year and a half ago was about $50 (without a guitar). Why should the songs alone cost double what the entire game did? A $50 bundle for all of the songs would be TWICE as reasonable as the current prices.
