denmark.dk — A group of researchers at the Technical University of Denmark’s project laboratory in Risø have discovered a cooling method that uses magnetic materials instead of electricity. The invention will allow for refrigerators to replace existing electric refrigerators in homes and businesses with a fully environmentally friendly power source.

'Len Barrie, head of the WMO's environment division, told the media, "If we stop CO2 emissions to the atmosphere now, it would take 50 to 100 years before we start to see approaches to pre-industrial levels." Therefore, we are screwed even if we focus only on the short term. The savings from a free energy device (assuming one could be made, which as you admit is not possible) would far outweigh the costs of producing them (especially if they were produced using free energy devices. From TFA: "the project’s researchers say the appliance’s cooling cycle efficiency will be 60 percent greater than that of conventional refrigerators."So, TFA uses a sensationalistic headline to bring people in to read what the journalist knows is not actually a perpetual motion/free energy machine.

Yeah. Like: "My refrigerator does not contribute to global warming. But its powerful magnetic field causes cancer!"

Dug up for the puzzling "Yesh!"

This is a completely worthless article, does anyone have a link to a story that explains this fridge without violating the laws of thermodynamics?

technically, it would only violate the second law as long as it rejects heat...but that is still one too many violation of basic thermodynamic laws...

The invention will allow for refrigerators to replace existing electric refrigerators in homes and businesses with a fully environmentally friendly power source. Although the first prototype will not be ready until 2010, the project?s researchers say the appliance?s cooling cycle efficiency will be 60 percent greater than that of conventional refrigerators. http://www.partstap.com
