Much better to buy software from a proven manufacturer and enjoy his work.And for SWF and FLV converting I use SWF & FLV Toolbox from Eltima. I can create beautiful animated avatar from any Flash cartoon or Flash video and use it on different forums. He allows me take just a piece from movie, or zoom and crop favourite area. I've tried make a banners with this soft - great results. I can set Loop options and get an endless tale.

Um. If you have Flash, then you have the ability to export your animation as GIF already.

some places dont let you use flash, which is why you can convert it to gif
