Rachel Maddow is one of the very last cable news figures that I have a great deal of respect for. While Olbermann usually gets the facts right, he's way too over-dramatic, grave and virulent to be productive, and ultimately doesn't differentiate himself from the conduct of Hannity, Limbaugh, Beck, etc. Maddow is intelligent, funny, and most of all authentic. She is able to present her perspective without taking things too seriously, or promoting partisan bickering. Other than the default Stewart/Colbert, her show is one of the last cable news sources I'll even consider.
Rachel Maddow is an ideologue practicing propaganda for the new ministry of truth. You have serious lack of education if you can hear anything she says as balanced news.
I don't see Fox News as news either. We would disagree on whether Fox provides a balance to MSNBC and CNN. While Fox has double to treble the audience of CNN and MSNBC combined, to me they are just populist so it's easy to see why they have such good numbers. I see fox as only slightly less left then CNN/MSNBC. So much for hearing diverse opinions. Don't even get me started on radio ... Those people are worthless, just reiterating each other in a constant echo chamber until it all sounds the same.
I really enjoy her show. She uses facts to make her arguments, not hysteria, outright lying and posturing. And when she is being partisan or biased, she says that it is her opinion. And she just comes across as plain nice. How often do we get to see that anymore on TV? I also love Keith Olbermann. I strongly disagree with people who say he is like Hannity, O'Reilly and company. Yes, he is dramatic, but it comes from passion. He doesn't lie and make stuff up to get his point across! I personally like passion anyway. I hate boring newspeople :)
