My local Apple Store (which just opened 1 month ago) sold me a 2.16 core duo for $1499 that was a lightly used display model: (1 gb ram; 256 MB vid card, 100 GB hd). I could have bought the baseline c2d for $300 more with my teacher discount. Did I make the right choice with the old model? They said I can return it without a restocking fee within 2 weeks.... Thanks for the input!
How is this surprising? Anyone who thinks that a *new* processor with a new, more efficient architecture etc. isn't faster than last generation's technology is a moron.Seriously, I'm tired of these dips**ts who this Core 2 Duo is only something like 7% faster than previous technology.
$1499.00 is the price they charge for refurbished notebooks off the website, those are basically the ones they still had in stock though so they are mostly new.I would say you didn't get an awful deal if it came with the full warranty but you could have gotten a better deal if you had asked about it on a forum like macrumors.com before purchasing.
