physorg.com — By implanting an electrode into the brain of a person with locked-in syndrome, scientists have demonstrated how to wirelessly transmit neural signals to a speech synthesizer. The "thought-to-speech" process takes about 50 milliseconds - the same amount of time for a non-paralyzed, neurologically intact person to speak their thoughts.

Is it possible to put on someone without them knowing by chance?

Yep a sit com should be made about that

it would just need to be one that works "wirelessly".

Diana Troi and her mother communicated via telepathy. They didn't hear every single thought that crossed the other's mind, but had deliberate conversations, just through their brain. This technology brings us much closer to that type of telepathy, you must admit.

What I mean by telepathy is very likely what most people here on digg think it means. Read their comments. From wikipedia, Telepathy (from the Greek ????, tele meaning "distant" and ??????, patheia meaning "to be affected by"),[2] is the supposed transfer of information on thoughts or feelings...

It says they want to make another device that can detect consonants, I read somewhere that one of the major things that separates humans from chimps is that chimps can only make vowel sounds which is why they only make the oo-oo-aa-aa noises. You need consonants to make real language. Unless you're French ;-)

who knows, they've already done what was supposed to be impossible. give them ten more years. by then, once they implanted the electrodes in your brain then they'll have you heart and soul. They're using short range RF so being able to detect the signal remotely probably won't be so difficult. This would make interrogating you a lot simpler..

There may not be a difference between thinking about speech and actually speaking - it may just depend on how much motor control you have. Actually, some people have no SH!T AAZZZ FFFKK UUUU DOLPHINE!

from the article, it takes 50 ms for your thoughts to be executed with motor functions.

You'd have to work on your inner monologue to get something that looks like written English. I guess this would literally change the way people think.
