What's with the hate? It's not like smokers can come within 45 miles of "regular" people now. Can't smoke inside, can't smoke outside except in designated spots. In point of fact, if you aren't looking for 'em, you could spend weeks never even seeing a lit cigarette.Lighten up, find some other horrible thing to spend your teenybopper rage on.
"If they can't find that big f**king "APPLICATIONS" folder in the Finder sidebar, then make an alias to the Apps folder and plop it in their Dock and on the desktop. Problem solved. I'm really curious, though... what sort of troubles have you had doing tech support for OS X? I know you mentioned you have a lot of problems, I just wanna know what some of them are. I've never really had a major issue since I've been using OS X (only the tail end of '05)."Because there's no fat Applications folder on the screen? You're assuming the user knows to pull up the Finder, open the hard drive, and see a big icon that says "Applications" right in front of them. What, are you going to dispute how I see people using Macintoshes? I support 12 different sites, and there are people at all the sites who have the same problem. You haven't had any issues. Of course you are probably pretty computer literate. For people who are not computer literate, Windows is easier.
Have you used a mac?Open any finder window and there is an Applications icon on the left. Along with direct access to the users home directory, documents directory etc. What's more, they can put whatever they like in there too.Or, if they are really stuck. Click the blue magnifying glass in the top right of the screen and type in what you want. Almost instantly you will get a list of matches. Simple.Besides, under windows. Click start. Choose All programs. Navigate to where you think the thing you want might be. Not there, try somewhere else. Get the picture.Someone else made the very sensible observation that all OSs have their own ways to do things and it's a simple matter of becoming familiar with those things. I would suggest that it's much simpler to get the hang of OSX than it is to pick up Windows and get productive.
