That would be great - online backup with time machine would be a no brainer.

I recently submitted a suggestion on apple's feedback page that they make .Mac a free service. I doubt that they would and I also doubt that if they did that it would be because of my feedback, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Maybe all apple-loving diggers should do the same. Would it make a difference?

.Mac is useless, there are severals free 'as in beer' alternatives out there. It was useful when it was launched for the first time: a completely different internet era.

What good would that do them? Google offer their services with advertising and so that people use their search - which has advertising. Offering .Mac free won't make people buy more Macs. I'm not saying it shouldn't be cheaper/offer more but just saying it should be free doesn't make much sense. Maybe Macs themselves should be free?

I want to back a free anti-virus software we used to have a few years ago.

A tree is known by its fruit; a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost; he who sows courtesy reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love.
