marketwatch.com — Apple's Macintosh unit sales are growing more than four times faster than the global PC market and have Apple closing in on 3rd place in the U.S. PC market. While iPod sales contribute nearly 40% of Apple's revenue, Mac sales still kick in more than half, which means the product's renewed vigor is goosing Apple's sales and bottom line.

dkoon, your comment made no sense at all. The article is about the rate of sales, not the size of the market.

I am guilty of buying two mac books this month. One for my sister and one for my mother. I have just eliminated my 'support calls' by 75%. This is from someone that used PCs (DOS/Windows/Linux) for over 20 years.

In other news, it looks like LG toasters are poised to take 3rd place in the market, just beating out GE. This is the dawn of a new age for toasters - elegant design, evenly cooked bread, advanced crumb management. Finally, the world is waking up! Eat that, GE fanboys!

It's hilarious how on one hand you guys are saying that no one will buy Vista and that no one has heard of it (same thing you all said about XP) and then on the other hand you make some wild assumption, based on ZERO evidence, that EVERYONE is totally jazzed about Leopard. Go up to a random PC user and ask them about Leopard and see if they dont break out the mace.

Glad to see some competition finally. Though i think thier marketing could have been even better if they showed off apple's strengths rather than compare them to a windows machine. Well, have 2 dudes pretend to be computers and one is nerdy while the other his hip. Personally i don't know anything much about the operating system, and it would be nice if they showed it off, showed off what it can do. made it creative, eye catching and all that jive. Whatever, it worked, i wonder how much money they dropped on that campaign. Wonder if they've broken even on thier computer sales.

Well, Apple has something like a 20% profit margin on every computer sold and a few billion dollars of cash on hand. So, I think they may have broken even about a decade ago...

Dumbass iFanboy. Your title is completely inaccurate. Closing in on 3rd? LMFAO !!!! Try 4% of the US market. MORON.

I find DIGG an amusing site where people make up their own titles for news articles you can read on your own from other reputable sites. I refer to this as the "Diggiality" version of reality. Remember this...Digg should be used for entertainment purposes only.
