winsupersite.com — Paul Thurott explains why he feels Apple has been grabbing a few of Windows features, and he also touches on a few other subjects, such as all the Windows bashing that Apple has been doing."I'm not dim: Microsoft does copy Apple on a fairly regular basis. But seriously, Steve. Apple's just as bad."

Excellent point DarkElf... The Keynote demo for Time Machine used an external firewire hard drive which was visible on the desktop...Time Machine gets a leg up over Vista's Previous Versions file system and ZFS because it's a complete backup on separate media. If they do it right, potentially you could wipe your boot drive clean, boot from the restore DVD, and restore from the Time Machine archive on the firewire disk... even install a specific snapshot as well.

For those of you who are unimpressed by the keynote, and Leopard's current state.. Remember how much Tiger changed between the WWDC in 2004 and Macworld 2005? :)

'Apple gained--get this--about 1/10th of one percent of market share. And the WWDC crowd goes wild.' My Favourite Part All true im not a fan of Microsoft and but do like what they do as well as what Apple do one thing even Microsoft can admit is that Apple can make any products better? Well generally they can, Well Okay at least make it look better.

For one, I dont think it's fair to Paul that you bury a story as "innacurate" when it's an editorial. If you need a definition of editorial, consult dictionary.com please.I've said this a few times, but I really think that Apple needs to lay off bashing their competitors, nobody is worried that MS is going to flat out file a lawsuit against apple for slanderous commentary at a Mac developer conference. What Apple should be worried about is losing people's mindshare on "thinking different".I for one can say that these recent Mac vs PC commercials and constant s**t talking from Apple VP's about their competitors OS features makes me less interested in supporting their company via my dollar signs. That doesn't bode well for Apple, considering the meager share of the total desktop market they hold as is puts them in no position to trash talk, they are the company that should be silently innovating and allowing the consumer to make the choice of purchasing their software/hardware because it fits their lifestyle, not because "Apple made it first" or because "Macs dont get viruses". Which are both ridiculous claims.Regardless of the stores that Apple has around the world, they still have only one product that is well noted as their biggest success on a world wide level. Their trendy cased PC's are not and will never be the reason for Apple's success. Their desktop platform is more of a side project these days to house some libraries to support ipods and that's all.

Someone's a little cranky about Leopard being Apple's umpteenth release of their OS since XP was released...I just love his remark on the "complete package," where Leopard will INCLUDE Front Row when Vista only includes their media center in higher-teired flavors of Vista.Obviously, no digg.

I know, there are too many messages in this page, so I quote myself here:Accuracy applies to opinions as well, since an opinion is based on facts of some sort. If he *thinks* that A copied B, but that's false, it could be an *opinion* but it's as well *inaccurate*.Still the "copy" factor that many here are discussing is mere air: doing something with a *good* interface IS innovation, just like a pen IS an innovation over the chalk. :)Hey! The pen inventor stole the idea from the chalk inventor! ...you'll see, it's useless even stating that. :)Seeing a journalist playing this game, it's simply ridiculous.

I thought they went a bit overboard at the WWDC.

Who really cares who copied what? In the end, the only thing that really matters is which Operating System works the best.I was a Windows User from Windows 3.1 all the way up until Windows XP. I just switched to a Mac at home three months ago, I don't think Windows holds a candle to OS X in most areas of comparison. Not to mention that you get the best of both worlds now with the ability to install Windows on a Mac. Every one in the Computer Industry hears all the new ideas regarding software relatively close to the same time. The difference between Apple and Microsoft is that Apple continously develops their software faster and more reliably than Microsoft. No price tag can do justice for being able to actually depend on your computer and not worry about viruses and constant system crashes.Let the companies talk about each other as much as they want, the truth will come out when the OS's are released.

You can hardly call windows x64 a solution that it said it would be - did they develop a program or service to emulate 32bit drivers? no, there solution is to just scrap it all and start a fresh. At least Apple have the right idea with Rosetta. System restore - how can you compare that to time machine? it rolls back everything... and anything you have done settings wise - is gone! this is a great idea.I used to be a M$ junkie but come on, look realistically - they're falling behind.I have my own theories for why longhorn is being shipped so late but they are just nicking features that apple have had for years and now just innovative ones - common sense ones.

can someone please explain how apple is now somehow copying windows, i just don't see it, i switched to mac about three months ago and i see no similarity
