not quite; the 100M hits are largely due to the fact that the live keynote updates were powered by AJAX, and so clients were repeatedly requesting the same page at very short intervals. If you actually read the article, you will see that there were only 389,125 unique visitors.

True, I was hitting refresh every 10 seconds. The site was loading very slow do to all the traffic/hits/reloads.

Hits Pages. They only served 3,328,612 pages but Engadget served over 10 million pages.
