Nevermind that USB2.0 has horrible latency compared to FW... So for all us musicians using firewire interfaces. (Which is an industry standard, mind you, and isn't going to change any time soon since USB2.0 doesn't cut it...) We, basically, are screwed. Especially those of us that are Logic Pro users opposed to ProTools. So we either go whitebook, or we don't get any 13.3" goodness.
@catachipOr you need one dual link DVI adpater to drive one 30 inch display at full resolution. No current Apple laptop can drive 2 30" displays at native res.
I don't understand Apple dropping FW. Its screwing all of us and forcing us to use inferior USB, if we can even find interfaces that have USB ports on them...
You're totally right, if you discount all lcd tvs, most LCD projectors, and the 262 LCD monitors that came up in my 10 second search on newegg for LCD with dsub in, there's no VGA equipment on the market anymore.
Well catachip, i'm pretty new to the macbook pro - looked online for an adapter for the mini display port, saw the Mini-DVI to VGA Adapter, figured that was all I needed to hook up a beamer, and bingo - here I sit with a piece of crap that won't fit the macbook pro. Some guy in the apple world figured out that he'd get a bonus in his paycheck if he could prevent every old apple user from using their old adapters by changing the specs. Voila! ante up apple world, drop another 20 bucks into the till and link-on friends. When you lay down nearly $3K for such a machine, I'd rather have 'em kick me with a few bucks at the front end and toss in a few adapters than get slammed with this kind of annoyance. Put this kind of "non issue" where the sun don't shine... and - APPLE - wake-up people, we like you more than Obama, but won't stand forever for this kind of crap.

$40 doesn't make much sense either.
