No Problems with my macbook, although the first one that I got Kernal paneked and died seconds after getting it out of the box, I went back to the vendor and they exchanged it for a diffrent one luckly, and with this one I have had not one problem (cept for it running warm)

I just purchased a new mac book 13 inch about a week ago.It runs really hot; I plugged an enternal firewire device for music recording.I've had the unit shut down on me. The first night I connected the firewire box, and had a install cd in the unit, it repeatedly shutdown, so I left the laptop powered off for a short time for it to cool down, since I suspected a thermal shutdown.I thought this was due to overheating, but now am suspicious of this random shutdown issue discussed here.I'm thinking about returning my unit and getting a new macbook.I will say this; I've alway own a intel platform for windows or linux. Apple is new to me, and I must say I'm really unhappy and disturbed by this overheating shutdown or random shut down....Any new pc I built never had this issue!!!!I think OSx is pretty slick, but I'm not in the market to spend all this money on a new apple to have it shut down repeatedly!FYI: I've updated to the latest updates for OSx and this includes the firmware update for controlling the cpu fan.Regards, smurphx

Removing your applesmartbattery file:com.apple.PowerManagement.plistfrom /Library/Preferences/SystemConfigurationWill stop the power indicator from working, but seems to work now for me.Its probably a combination of hardware and software that is failing.Michael
