I am definately going to download a pirate copy of windows media centre editionI have spent well over $1000au on Microsoft products in the last year (windows xp x64, xbox 360 + periperals+xbox live membership and credits) (actually it's probably over $2000 if you count the 15 or so 360 games I've bought). I'm f**kin sick of this s**t. I bought a xbox 360 but I can't stream video to it unless I buy a WMCPC ($3000+ in australia). There is clearly no reason it can't stream from an XP (which I've already payed hundreds of dollars for) pc but ms want's to sell more media centre pcs.The way I see it, I'm forced to pirate. I have been a devoted windows user for over 15 years but the 360 video streaming issue alone has got me almost entirely switched to linux (which I have never even considered before 3 weeks ago)The WGA issue is just a minor issue. If MS continues to give devoted users reason to pirate their software, we will continue to do so. I have no doubt WGA will be cracked soon. I don't even consider it a reason not to pirate WMC edition.
Oh really? In that case please tell me where I can buy a new laptop from a large, well-known company without Windows or any Microsoft software, at a reasonable price. (read: 'Costs less money than the same exact computer with XP from that manufacturer')
I had this problem yesterday when reinstalling Windows XP Home on a brand new system. The way I got it to finally work is by going to www.microsoft.com/genuine and downloading the "verify" tool. "Validate Windows". (Do this in Internet Explorer - FF was giving me issues.) After this, I went back to windows update and everything was dandy. Also, there is a WGA debug tool that microsoft offers on their site somewhere (I forgot where or what its called, but it shouldn't be too hard to find.) Anyway, this should solve your problem (or, with the diagnostic tool, begin to let you know what's going wrong.)
Well, I experimented with the WGA patch, and it works like a champ. An invalid key on SP2 will pass the WGA test with no problems.FYI, Linux is my only OS, but sometimes I fool with Windows just so I don't forget it completely.
Hi Guys - '9tailfox' and 'xXkelbaXa'Each of you must learn to write the correct ENGLISH phrase !the phrase should say -"You Sir, are an arsehole"not"You sir, are an assh**e" as per xXkelbaXaor"You sir are a assh**e" as per stallifox"by courtesy of an english gentleman........Boom! Boom!
I think it's even worse that that.. More like if 80% o people drive then 20% must walk. Negating all other forms of transporation, Bicycles, Crawling, Trucks, motorcycles. It's rediculous how a hack author can spin a statistic, and have all the idiots jumping on the bandwagon to bash microsoft. This is the same guy that wrote the false kill switch piece.
Regardless, this article had its intended effect which was to draw traffic to this Blog. Just like virtually every other story on Digg, it's a contest to see who can make up the biggest most misleading attention-getting piece of drivel to draw traffic to their blog. How surprising...
