arstechnica.com — Hollywood is now resorting to calling critics of its analog stream-blocking proposal liars, while talking out of both sides of its mouth about DVD encryption and piracy. But the brunt of this accusation, Public Knowledge, still insists that shutting down the output to millions of HDTVs won't benefit consumers.

I won't buy broken products - it's as simple as that. If they don't want my money then so be it.

Oddly enough, when I read the title of this, I was initially driven to conclude that the MPAA was trying to say something to the effect of 'These non-believers are trying to deceive themselves with their denial, even though they know that this is actually a good idea, and will come to see the light if simply persuaded by reading our good book of laws and listening to our ordained lawyers'Funny what the world is coming to that this would be my initial reaction.

Seems like everyone is Hitler these days. Seriously. You're undermining the historical relevance of Hitler by invoking his name to describe everyone you don't like. How about we find real words to describe things instead of the clichéd 'Hitler' moniker. I don't like the MPAA either, but I'm pretty tired of hearing how many Hitlers we have in the world. As far as I know there was only one Hitler and nobody has even come close to his level of evil.

Why do the MPAA think that disabling the analogue outputs will have ANY effect on piracy?TV is not ripped via analogue outputs, the stream is captured bit-for-bit and strip the encryption using custom DVB-S equipment, not using the cable box. It does not matter what the cable box does.So please MPAA go ahead and block the analogue outputs so we can get the movies on torrents a few days earlier :)
