They must be desperate to get some gamers to their realm, why else would they instate a free play for everyone? Also what about all players that (if they played since the beginning) paid all the time and normally still have playtime left on their account? I know with Anarchy Online and Neocron I always took a 6 month subscription. Will those players get a refund of some sorts?
I couldn't agree more, ultima was so much fun because of the pvp and pk'ing. The guy who made UO (forget his name) knew in the beginning that the pvp is what made the game great, but eventually they just killed that off, at least in any fun way. I've avoided EQ and WoW because of the lack of pvp and looting, but I'm definetly going to have to try this one out. Plus it's a great way to test out my new mac mini.
I downloaded and played this game for a while. With all the in-depth character and dynamic world PvP systems they've set up, it would be an awesome game if the interface and graphics were up to par. And yes, it is a ton harder than WoW. I quit playing because I don't have time to dedicate to the hardcore world, and I need a little more eye candy with a less ugly interface.
You don't need to. Just make an account on the ubi website it links to and it automatically signs you up. (Go to Subscriptions and it should be on there)
Here's the deal with Shadowbane. Ive played since release, I still play. The graphics aren't that interesting. The coding is a bit funky, and there will always be some bugs. You are only safe in an NPC safehold.The variety of classes/races/disciplines is very wide.Its easy to make a crappy toon, it takes a while to learn the character system.Most everyone will want to kill you.The pvp is better, more "intense" more fun. more frustrating than any other game I've played. What you need to do to function well.Make your first toon something than can powerlevel/farm (sentinel, druid,fury,magelock)make 2 accts and make a priest buffbot on the second acct. No-one runs without buffs by choice.Find a guild. Admit to being a noob, and swear that you'll pay attn and try your best to learn how to play.Go to the Shadowbane boards, go to the Brailla server forum (new) post in the recruitment threads.Warriors make good toons to start. heres a general idea for a warrior:Race Minotaur:Weapon:Polearmstarting runes: healthy as an ox, warlords pagerunes taken in game: +5 strstats at lvl 75Str: 175con 160dex: 11(no points)int 60spir 15 (no points)polearm 142%HA 100%athletics 130%parry 123%polearm mastery 92%disciplines: Dark Kinght, Bounty Hunter, Blood Horn, Sapperbalefume 40 trainstrip 20 trainsdark curse 20 trainsknavery 20 trainsblood roar 1 trainLearn how to use your weapon powers, Defense debuff, slashing debuff, bleed, atk debuff etc to best maximize your effectiveness and damage damage.For gear, try to get a polearm with legendary of alacrity, or legendary of slaughter stats. You can get top tier gear later, when you have cash and resources. For armor, try to get 4 piercing 4slashing 2 crushing resist HA. alternately 4/4 40 health works too. For rings necklaces, either 20 con/health recovery or con/elemental resist .Download Ventrilo for communication. Dont get mad, get guilded, leveled, and then get even. Dont accept random offers to summon you to PL from people you dont know. Good luck.

i doubt it would, why would you want to pirate a free client? through witch you gain access to the game via a subscription.
