blogs.starwars.com — YouTube removed all parody/fanfilm/spoof Star Wars content two days ago due to copyright violation. This morning, in an incredibly awesome PR move, Lucasfilm contacted YouTube, and told them to put it all back online - every last one.

Amidst the borg technology he finds a star map. The map leads to what is known as "The 12 colonies". He then gets attacked by a Cylon.

Of course they did they, down the road they since it's in public domain they will put out a dvd of all the star wars parodies. Then a special "uncut" version of the dvd, then a new version with re worked special effects, then a version after that with the new special effects removed, for the fans.

This is a superb move by LFL - take care of the fans and they'll take care of you.

Marketing excellence at it's best. He's got PR for Star Wars coming off YouTube.More for going back onto it...Then everyone loves him because they can see it online. So he gets more fans who stumble over it on Youtube. Then he sells more t-shirts!Hurrah, just love it

just wait till Jabba the Hutt (George Lucas) decides to milk his fanboys for some more money. Remember how adament he was about NOT releasing the original films in their first run theatrical state on DVD? Remember how long it took to get the original three on DVD? I like star wars. they're good family films. Luckily though, I'm not blinded by Lucas's ruthelessness to milk his people for their money. I wouldn't be surprised if he changes his mind one of these days about YouTube. Also, mark my words, it'll be a while before Star Wars goes hi def on bluray or HDDVD. Once he's finished selling his last DVD boxset, he'll sell them all over again on hidef.

I don't really get how it's a misunderstanding. I've seen a cease and desist before, they are very specific providing URLs for what needs to be deleted. I'm betting it's more likely that Lucasfilm wanted to undo what they saw as a mistake.
