Something just doesnt add up here.If they had "weekly allowance," Why didnt she bring it to him when she went to visit? Why hide it in 3 separate locations? are they squirrels? Why would anyone leave people they don't know unsupervised in their home? Something about this story seems to be a setup for a big money lawsuit.

People leave cash in their house? That's really stupid.

You keep missing the point, man. Stop me when we get to the part you don't agree with, ok?This woman had a complaint, and appears to have taken the proper steps to have it heard out. She went through a lot of trouble to try and find the right person to report it to. Instead of having the company hear her out, as they ought to, she was threatened with bogus legal action by some guy in middle management. Now, I've actually worked at Lowe's and I have family friends who've worked there for over 15 years in all kinds of positions, from dock worker to manager, and I can tell you (as others have tried to say in this thread) that no manager gets to make such a threat. You can't have some peon middle manager in podunk, wherever, making legal threats like that.Could the lady have made it up? Sure, she could be some batty old lady who misplaced the cash. But the point is that some dick with a name tag made bs threats (let's reiterate, there is no basis for a slander suit in this case) when he had no call to do so.Could the entire story have been made up? Sure...but then, so could most of the crap on the internet. I'm just saying that if there really is some little old lady out there who brought such an issue to her local Lowe's Mgr and he treated her thusly, then said manager acted out of line, and should face some kind of discipline from Lowe's management.

just to give you an insight to the world of the installers, that not only have worked for Lowe's but also work for the depot. just for sake of the argument, we also do private installations. after reading the comments it seems that a fare few of you feel that all installers, that work for the named company's, are much below par. Not so!!! we run a tight ship, with all installers having to submit and clear a background check, also for Lowe's they require a credit check.(only god knows why). References must also accompany the request for employment. After passing the background check, we have a 30 job rule. if there are any problems on any of their first 30 installs, we take a serious look at their capability. Although we know there are circumstances beyond the control of the installer, and they are taken into account. However, as the original issue was about stealing. Yes we have had that too, only once in the last 10 years has a contractor been fired for stealing. this was proven. As the items were found and returned to the client with our sincere apology. several times throughout the years we have had clients on the phone with "Stolen items". all of which have been found at a later date, swiftly followed by the "I'm so sorry" call. We as installer have the s**tty end of the stick, not only do we have to bend over backwards to please the client. (who by the way have paid through the nose). We also have to appease the store and all it's rules and policy's. (Incidentally, The orange box is far superior). As for the skill of the installers, all installers are truly put through the test by these company's. anyone who work for the big boxes will tell you, that you have to be good at what you do, and enjoy what you are doing. And be a true professional in all aspects of the professions chosen. Do I feel sorry for the lady concerned... sure. i can. However, she did shop at the big box store, if she screams loud enough, then I'm sure she will receive all she wanted and more.( just remember that it's not the big boxes that foot the bill, it's the company's like ours that are made to pay. Hopefully this has answered a few questions that seem to be milling on this subject. I hope that if the lady has truly had her stuff stolen, that she receives the understanding from the store concerned.

I am a sub for Lowes, and I work exclusively for them. I bend over backwards for them and the customer. Then wait almost two weeks to get paid. Been with them 6 1/2 years, never a complaint. Till the other day.... An elderly lady said my helper took her purse. We were installing a storm door. We opened the main door to install the "closer" and "sweep plate", She was standing there watching! She then went inside to check on her Alzheimer stricken husband, we closed the door and completed our work. She then came back out and inspected the work, and signed the contract. We loaded our tools and trash in the truck and left . 5-6 hours later she called Lowes and asked for MY number. They called me and I called her, She proceeded to tell me she could not find her purse and didn’t want to say anything to Lowes to cause trouble for me, and asked me to ask my helper. I did and he never seen it (nor did I) Now she's trying to say he took it! I know better, but I think she really thinks he did.... Now she said the night before she gave her teen granddaughter some money and sat it in the chair, never even looked for it till the next evening (5-6 hours after we left). Now I'm worried Lowes is going to get rid of me, for something I know didn’t happen. But I believe she honestly thinks he took it. What am I to do????
