arstechnica.com— Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has signed the Louisiana Science Education Act into law, singling out evolution, origins of life, and global warming for criticism. Let 1,000 Dover trials bloom!

whynot2k--you are aware that "species" in an arbitrary, man-made classification, right? And that the only reasonable boundary between species is enough differences? And that a lot of small changes equals a big change? As points in their own right, does what I say make sense? Please do not, as I have a feeling you might be tempted to, respond to a point I did not make as if I were making it.
"BTW, if you wish to do a bit of digging, you can also turn up images of trees that have become coal sticking through "millions of years" of strata - a complete impossibility if the layers represent millions of years"...if you ignore the effects of geological subduction and upheaval, sure. That's the problem with you religionists, you will conveniently ignore whole fields of science if they are inconvenient for your unevidenced belief system."The fossil record shows no support of evolution, not once."BZZT! Wrong! Look up foraminifera some time. In the foraminiferans, we can see a perfect and continuous day-by-day and year-by-year recording and accounting of almost an entire PHYLUM of life, going back to the mid-Jurassic. There's no evidence of a global flood. None."Finally, go see Ben Stein's movie"Like Dimensio said, go see the Expelled Exposed website.
Then you my friend, are a rare exception. Now, I personally don't believe in magic anymore, but my parents encouraged me to believe in it. All I'm saying is, if you don't want to think about it, to just have an answer and be done with it, magic is the far better option.
One more edit: I screwed up saying that we don't see the evidence of erosion of the Grand Canyon, what I really meant to say is that we don't see one massive layer of eroded material down stream of the Grand Canyon, which is what you expect from a cataclysmic event such as one that would be required for the Grand Canyon to be made at one time. Such examples of layers caused by cataclysmic event can be seen on the coasts of Washington where there are large layers of sand sandwiched in between layers of regular soil which are caused by tsunamis dragging sand from the sea and depositing it onto land as it recedes (We can see evidence of this process from the recent Indonesian Tsunami), and actually you can find evidence of many similar tsunami events around the world just by looking at geologic layers. Usually these layers aren't that big, but for an event that excavated the the Grand Canyon, which would be orders of magnitude more violent than an tsunami, we would find a layer of mud and debris which would be very thick. What we do see is layers of eroded material which are consistent with a slow constant erosion, creating new geologic layers down stream of the Grand Canyon as time passes. .
Perhaps I should have added a /sarcasm thingie or two after my comment, since diggers seem unable to tell the difference between a tongue-in-cheek comment and an utterance of genuine thanks.
ID represents a movement of *creationists* who are nonetheless able to grasp some essential truth to the Theory of Evolution. Is the effort to silence these quasi-evolutionist Christians as important as the war against the homicidally anti-atheist Islamo-fascists?I think not.
um...Jesus openly convinced people that God is all-powerful and did indeed create the world. And I'm not the one who is spreading my superstition. You are.
Bravo! The problem is that there are ignoramuses following this idiot. Who voted for the fool? The real victims will be the children. You start feeding them on pap and they won't expect anything else. He's started his election bid for 2012 and it's only gonna get worse!
Yes, that's true unfortunately. I live in switzerland and i'm from the english speaking caribbean. I say unfortunately because I do love the culture but simply cannot live there anymore. I'm waiting for more evolution before moving back.

I will tell you that evolution is fact! A scientific "theory" is not the same as a colloquial theory. I have a theory that an invisible man with a beard lives in the sky and controls the flap of every butterflies wings is not a scientific theory. It is not testable, repeatable, peer reviewed, or published in a scientific journal for others to test and verify. A eory in science has a different meaning than in layman’s terms. In science, a theory means “A set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena, especially one that has been repeatedly tested or is widely accepted and can be used to make predictions about natural phenomena.” (The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition Copyright © 2000 by Houghton Mifflin Company.)
