eweek.com — Have you ever hit "Send" on a text message on your mobile phone before addressing it? Ever wondered where all those lost SMS text messages go? If so, you might want to speak with Stan Bubrouski, whose cell phone has been channeling wayward text messages from across the country for years.

ha! Great story, but it took 5 YEARS for Verizon to get notified of this? Also, don't people get charged to receive text messages?? :)

"What a ridiculous idea in the first place. I've never seen a phone that would allow you to send a text with no addressee."When I had an AT&T prepaid phone, I was told I couldn't send email (yet I could receive). Through some experminentation, I sent a text message to "0", with the first line being "To: user@domain.dom" (or maybe I didn't need to To, I forget) and was able to send emails out, no charge. I suppose many phones will allow no address, or a 0, which in verizon's case (untested even though I have verizon) could go to "null". The bulk of the emails come from computer programs attached to the internet via either standard email or an actuall sms gateway.
