Because Desmond wasn't in the cave to push the button, the TRS-80 ran out of time and gpf'd and gave them the red egyptian bird. As time went by, the unhappy magnet made the ground shake more and more until it seemed like the island was experiencing an earthquake. The wonky magnetic fields made the airplane crash, then Desmond used turbo-asm to fix the trs-80 and make the magnet happy again.

***********Season 4 spoilers********** (you've been warned)Lost is a very intertwined ongoing plot that is hard to just sit down and watch out of the blue. You'll step in not knowing why things are happening as they do and what's so important about specific characters and how they react to one another. The island is not just one island... it's four. It all stems from research of a group (Hanso Foundation) dedicated to finding a way to extend life by altering the formula of the valezetti equation (4 8 15 16 23 42). Seasons 1, 2, & 3 are done on the islands everyone knows about, season 4 taps into the new islands yet to be revealed. The "good guys" about to rescue the survivors of Oceanic Air 314 are the Hanso Foundation, and they have succeeded in completing their research and use the island to control this "eden" they have created. Stuck in a loop in time, the numbers reset the island back exactly 108 minutes (total of the numbers). The show poses extremely strong questions that are often too profound to answer or lead to other questions in a spiraling mass of hysteria. Some of the characters who have left do come back closer to the 4th seasons end... I won't name those characters though. I've got quite a few answers to the questions posed by the show, but many of those answers pose new questions that I have yet to figure out.Lost is the best mind game on TV. I've never experienced more "hair raising" events of trying to crack the Lost code than any other show out there. Oh yeah, if you've even seen Mission Impossible:3, watch the credits... you'll see a "special thanks" going out to the Hanso Foundation.Good Luck, and nameste.

How many episodes are in series 3? I tried to download ep 24 but it doesn't appear on torrentspy (or anywhere else that I can find). I presumed that the series would have 24 episodes, no?PS the reason I am downloading it is because it's only shown on Sky here in the UK, which I don't have :)

Nameste is another important part of the plot. It's something you don't expect but you will see it pop up everywhere in lost. Theory states the word nameste is a key to something larger in the series... possibly tied to the smoke monster or the dead characters. However, I won't go into that one... it's too deep to really divulge where and how it leads the plot along. The best way to watch Lost, look at it from the outside world, inside world, and as a part of the world... then keep all the knowledge you have separate. The building plot on the Island is a great tragedy and romance where the outside world brings the island as a whole to a level of sci-fi found in shows like Star Trek. As a part of the world on the island is a sinister twist to a point where it mashes to a horror plot of mild taste. Now, throw in real events that happen in the areas where you live as "accidental" viral marketing which ties into the show somehow and you get bone chilling psychosis flashes that make your hair stand on end. In the early times, Sawyer finds an unpublished manuscript called "Bad Twin", if you would have found this book at the library and read the back, the author was someone on the plane of the show who supposedly died. Then there's Apollo bars... a candy bar found by Hurley inside the first hatch. About two weeks prior to showing that episode, the Apollo bars were "new" candy bars at the local get'n'go. Things just happen, and you can't explain it, but parts of your everyday life is sucked into the drama of Lost. Everything from words, symbols, even the cars we drive... (jeep wrangler) has something to do with Lost. The questions you pose to the shows may seem like they never come... but many answers have been given already but lead to even deeper and provoking questions. Try this, watch the first episode and check out the comic Walt is reading... the plot will start to unravel specifically from that point. Also, in part of season 3, Hurley mentions he isn't The Flash... if you are good at pausing... check out the map in the fake lens flare.
