cracked.com — Most movie posters are boring as hell. Well, actually, most American movie posters are boring as hell. Go to Eastern Europe, or Japan, and you find posters that have absolutely nothing to do with the film, and everything to do with melting a hole in your brain.

That Planet of the Apes one made me laugh. Imagine all movie posters giving away the twist endings. What an ace marketing move.

Those posters for Bullitt and Weekend at Bernies are Grade-A insane.

As a matter of fact, the anniversary edition DVD cover (a very nicely done picture that it is) gives away the ending too:http://www.mfiles.co.uk/reviews/planet-of-the-apes ...I don't know what the hell is wrong with these people.

As a graphic designer, I commend their experimentalism in design. But as a movie fan, goddamn maybe these make those cliche "floating heads" posters here in America actually look useful.

(From an artist's point of view) To be fair, Polish movie posters actually have a lot to them. There is a long-lived history and culture surrounding poster design in Poland, and there are many distinguished artists that work on them. Yes it's different than the cut and paste job we have in America, but think about the other differences in our cultures. Art has strong cultural influences, and Poland is actually quite famous in the art community for their work.
