younewb.com — The most exciting MMO news in recent memory for many of us was a Lord of the Rings themed MMORPG. Of course, no MMORPG can be discussed without pointing out the massive World of Warcraft currently shadowing over all games in the genre. Can Tolkein's hobbits slay the beast that is WoW? Or will they be quickly disposed of by Blizzard's fierce orcs?

@daecristSure that can happen, but then if you find youself allways being the hunted and not the hunter in any game its probaley because your doing something wrong, eve is no different in that respect and if you get yourself in the right corp, and there are a *lot* of them, you'll rareley be outmatched to a great extream, its all about tactics.Tactics also being part of the reason why a mouse works just fine, that and the fact its NOT a flight sim. ^-^

If you've never payed a montly fee to play a game then you have no business throwing in your two cents on the merits of one MMO over another, because you obviously have not played enough of the genre.

spyrochaete is right, Guild Wars has hands down, the best PVP. It's basically completely fair and balanced and it simply boils down to who has the best skillset and strategy, not who has grinded for the longest time (Like WoW, D2, etc). Also, add in the guild system and the other PVP things and you have a winner.I can't wait to get back into GW. :o

Oh I forgot... you don't have to buy a damn box from a store to play lineage either. You just pay your monthly fee (14 or 11 for 3 months at a time etc.) and download the thing with your first month free. WTF? WoW even has "PAID character transfers" from server to server for $25! LOLAnything to fleece ya further.

Lol, in lineage pvp is EVERYWHERE outside of towns. More is that you don't have to farkin HIKE every damn place in between towns. They have a bookmarking system that almost anywhere outside of dungeons and castles you can bookmark a location and via scrolls you can buy from characters or get as drops you use to teleport to your bookmarks. This makes for some really fun pvp in that you can get a newbie from your pledge to tag some guy or group and run to a pre designated location and via pledge chat say go when you arrive at your ambush spot you all set up. Suddenly everyone teleports in and your victim/s are hosed. Makes it easier to return to fav hunting grounds and return into a battle or seige after death too.I got some pvp in open field in WoW but pvp has less to do with skill than lvl and death was ... well I didn't really care when I lost... you paid a bit to fix your gear... big deal...The other thing fun in Lin is that you have castles which are meant to be seiged and controlled by bloodpledges (bloodpledge = guild). The biggest seige I was part of in Lin 1 was 800-900 people split fairly evenly. The sound on my stereo during that seige was rediculous. You could hear every arrow shot, sword clash, and spell cast. Fun as hell!
