Um, the Krauts put up a brief insurgency, and even though the Japanese as a whole were quick to follow orders (d'oh, not quite the lesson we wanted to teach), the Okinawans still hate having us there. But this was covered in 2004, Kerry refused to put up and demand that we remove troops from these places (and he sure didn't shut up about removing them before Iraq had a chance at civil peace).
