engadget.com — Protected Video Path – Output Protection Management performs two main functions. First, it detects the capabilities of the display devices attached to the computer. God this is s**tty..but I'm pretty sure that a Russian 12 year old that never leaves his basement will have a way around this figured out within 48 hours, just like the copy protection on movies it never lasts long. By the time that games are saying you need longhorn there will be a very easy way around that so we can again pirate to our hearts content. I hope microst takes a huge profit decrease for this, piracy isn't there business. If your gunna use longhorn steal it, and f**k microsoft for being such assh**es

As a side note, they are screwing the honest people who won't crack it. Sounds like gun control laws. Oh wait, do they both involve freedom?

Is there a reason why no one is catching that this isn't Microsoft's idea, but Hollywood's? Microsoft is just trying to ensure there is content to play on the computer.
