The people commenting here clearly know nothing about writing highly scalable and reliable real-time systems using .NET, and are just Linux fanboys who jump on any negative (and inaccurate) story about Microsoft.Overhead has nothing to do with it, C# has nothing to do, SQL Server (even 2000) has nothing to do with this problem, they are all capable of creating the right solution, just as much as any other platform. It's down to the design and implementation, not the platform.
Because MS haters have a reputation to maintain. The simple fact is no one on this board knows what the real problem was or what truly went wrong with the system. Even the author admits that he doesn't know. The article is just an opportunity to push what he prefers.
lol... you moved *from* c# *to* php and c++?! I'm so sorry. To be fair, I think every programmer should know C/C++ because it helps you understand and appreciate the underlying subsystems you have in higher level languages like c#. But programing is very much about using the right tool for the right job, and c# is going to be the right tool far more often than c++ is... so your comment disturbs me a bit...
"Here is why you fail: Using your same logic where "market share" determines what is "better", then Windows is absolutely the best desktop operating system ever."What? That's like saying because 19 of the top 20 fastest cars are Ferrari and Lamborghinis that they have the largest market share.Unix systems scale far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far better than Windows. Anyone who is serious about I.T and requires mission critical reliability knows that. Ask NASA.
