computerworld.com— Can a dedicated Windows user make it for two weeks using only Linux? Preston Gralla tried it and lived to tell this tale.

Most people use a computer for 3 things: Browsing, Email and Word. I don't mean 'word processing', I mean Microsoft Word. Unless they can replicate the exact experience and compatibility you get with MS Word, people will be confused. It is likely the most complex program the average user uses.People have shown that they will switch email or browsing programs if the experience can be replicated or even improved, but open office still has a lot of glitches that need to be ironed out.
That's because you installed in on its own terms. This guy's idiot son told him to use Wubi. If you want to test Linux don't use a f**king installer separate from the one Ubuntu is made to use. It uses grub and handles the dual boot issue, and the first entire section of the article was problems from Wubi and Windows, not Linux. The rest of the article was your basic idiot that didn't do any research. If these authors had never used windows AT ALL and then you threw them on vista without explaining anything they would have just as many problems and then some.

I never had any problems with installing or with the network. Everything worked off the bat.

Wine has a lot gotten better, but it still has a long way to go.
