BUT many innocent/legitimate journals & communities have gotten suspended as well. Most of those are fandom (including roleplaying journals) or literature related (like one community discussing Lolita).

I'm guessing that people are freaking out, saving their interests and bios to their hard drives before they wipe them to protect themselves, mass-locking entries, seeing if any of their friends were deleted, and all other sorts of things that are raping LJ's servers.... Which is kinda ironic, actually.

My LJ was one of the ones banned. Whats the harm in having a LJ asking little girls if they've seen my lost puppy? I miss him....Hopefully my next LJ about conversion vans with unicorn murals painted on the side isnt banned!

@modadIt isn't censorship, it's LJ not wanting to get screwed over in some possible lawsuit. It's their site. They can restrict whatever they want. It'd be a bad idea, but it's not violating anyone's constitutional rights. You want to write stuff that LJ will ban you for, use another blogging site.I am so bloody tired of all the people crying "freedom of speech." Way to show you've got no idea what you're talking about.

In other words somebody higher up told the IT guys to get their asses to the archive and pull the backup tapes. :) I fully believe the accounts WERE deleted and after the uproar they had to go "undelete" them.
