Actually, Android does look promising. I think that Android is the most likely competitor to the iPhone. Windows Mobile looks like a bit of a joke to me next to the iPhone. Not really sure about Blackberries, as I've not used one, but my understanding is that the big features are the corporate things like exchange support, push email, push calendars, and so forth. Seeing as Apple is doing all that stuff now, it is definitely going to hurt.
Make these games available on iPhone in June and i'm sold: Wing Commander, Freespace 2, Monkey Island, Marble Madness, Sonic The Hedgehog, Doom, Quake, System Shock 2, Final Fantasy VII, Contra, Tie Fighter, Day of the Tentacle, Sim City, Gunstar Heroes, Silpheed, Lemmings, Lode Runner, Street Fighter II, and of course Spore!

Yes, but for the average user, it appears to be the same. I'm really glad Apple chose this route rather than tie us to an Apps section in iTunes.

Do not underestimate Android. If it delivers it will be able to offer a vastly larger array of apps with the same kind of shiny slick interface.

Free apps are nice, but I don't think anyone would have a problem with a dev charging $0.50 - $1.00 for an app to recover the cost of a cert.
